Founder / CEO of Margaritaville Apparel Group
Joe Laurita is a Santa Monica-based entrepreneur and philanthropist best known for his accomplishments in apparel licensing and merchandising. In the industry for nearly four decades, Joe currently serves as CEO of Margaritaville Apparel Group, Jimmy Buffett’s signature clothing brand found in retailers across the globe.
Outside of his work at Margaritaville Apparel, Joe donates to a wide range of charities and organizations. He has been a major contributor to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, TN for over 25 years. He serves as board member and contributor to Exploring the Arts (ETA), a nonprofit organization founded by legendary recording artist Tony Bennett and his wife Susan Benedetto in 1999. Together, they create and strengthen opportunities for the arts in public high school education. With ETA, Joe offers student internships at Margaritaville Apparel, teaching the design and manufacturing trades. In September 2010, at their annual fundraising gala, Joe was honored by ETA as “Man Of The Year”.
Joe also contributes to Project Ladybug, a nonprofit organization that provides financial and emotional support to children with life threatening conditions and their families as well. Other organizations that receive his support include the animal rights organization PETA, MusiCares (established by the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences to help musicians undergoing financial crisis) and Studio Dante (an Off-Broadway theatre in New York City owned and operated for several years by actor Michael Imperioli and his wife, Victoria).
